The Wild Side

When we get tired of the urban experience in San Francisco, we like to take a walk south from the Golden Gate Bridge to Baker Beach and then along the Lands End Trail. This time we punked out at the Legion of Honor.

Ever since they've opened up the Presidio as a public park, they've been doing restoration work along the coast. That means adding new trails and fixing up old ones. It's a lot like the Hudson River Park in lower Manhattan, though much less urban.

Of course, even as trails are being repaired, the bluffs are collapsing elsewhere. One section of trail was wiped out and blocked off with a cyclone fence. It took us a while to find where the trail continued, and we nearly fell off one of the concrete bunkers while searching for a way down.
