The Original Kenner Girder and Panel Lamp Lamp
Kenner Girder and Panel lamps offer a soft light that is easy on the
eyes. They are based on the classic building toy from the 1950s, 1960s
and 1970s. When the kits were first produced, girder and panel
construction was the height of modernity, and orange and blue were the
colors of the future, as anyone who attended the 1964 World's Fair in
New York City remembers. By the 1980s, glass panels were being replaced
by the post-modernists who were fond of what was then considered
"retro", stone veneer, marble, brick and slate.
This lamp was designed for the uppermost shelf and casts its light
about the room. There is a dimmer, usually resting on one of the lower
shelves making it easy to get the right amount of soft light for the
room.
If you would like one of these lamps for your own home,
drop us a line. We also have produced a
small number of kinetic
K'Nex lamps which you can
see here. We can make one up for
you,
or we can send you a kit and let you build your own.
