The old Harvest was a Cambridge classic almost as soon as it opened. It replaced the old Charrette with a new type of restaurant and it stood out as a lone outpost of good food in a wasteland of mediocrity, or worse. In time, the Harvest declined. The cooking took a big hit when it was bought by the owners of Davio's and stopped using stocks and proper sauces. Then it got run down and folded.
The new Harvest has been remodeled. The three spaces: the bar, the dining room and Ben's Cafe have been linked more closely. The kitchen has been moved out into the open and the bar over to the side. The bright 60s and early 70s colors and eclectic decor are more muted for the 90s and 00s. The cooking is excellent again.
